Departure for Berat at 9:00 am.This is one of the oldest and the pride of Albanian architecture. The three major neighborhoods of the old city are Mangalemi, Gorica, and Kala where the castle itself is located. The city of Berat offers rare examples of an architectural style typical of the Ottoman period. The people of Berat were first called Illyrians, then Arbër, and finally Albanians. Located in central Albania, Berat bears witness to the coexistence of various religious and cultural communities down the centuries.
It features a castle, locally known as the Kala, most of which was built in the 13th century, although its origins date back to the 4th century BC. The citadel area numbers many Byzantine churches, mainly from the 13th century, as well as several mosques built under the Ottoman era which began in 1417. The old town section of Berat is one of the oldest in Albania, with the earliest traces of settlement dating from 2600-1800 BC and archaeological finds such as ceramics from the 7th or 6th century BC. Come along in this day tour and experience this beautiful city and more.
