Day Trip & Bear Watching in the Land of Volcanoes

<p>In the morning, <strong>your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Brasov. </strong><strong><ins>Please feel free to write down your hotel address in Brasov, on the relevant section when booking.</ins></strong></p>

<p>After an 80 kilometer drive, you will arrive at the parking for <strong>lake St. Anna.</strong></p>

<p>Depending on the season, you can visit the <strong>Mohos peat bog</strong> (open only from spring to mid autumn) where you have the chance to see some unique species of <strong>hallucinogenic and carnivorous plants</strong> but also a fascinating landscape.</p>

<p>From the parking, get down to the lake on an easy 15 minute hike.</p>

<p><strong>St. Anna lake the only volcanic crater lake in Romania</strong>, formed around 8.800 - 9.800 years ago. You will discover its beauty in a 30-minute easy walk around the 220,000 m area.</p>

<p>After a short transfer by car, you will go on a 30 minutes hike up to the <strong>Puturosu Cave (The Smelly Cave), the biggest natural gas bath in Europe</strong>. Back at the car you can have lunch in a nearby restaurant (lunch not included) and enjoy the wonderful scenery.</p>

<p><strong>Keep in mind that during the cold season, because of shorter days, the schedule might be changed.</strong></p>

<p>The <strong>highlight of the trip</strong> comes in the afternoon, when you will go deep in the forest with an experienced ranger and see the Eurasian brown bears in their natural habitat, in the wild. Once arrived in the <strong>safe bear hide</strong>, taste a shot of palinka (traditional Hungarian spirit) and wait for the bears to come just a few meters in front of you. Because the bear hide is specially built, the bears cannot see you through the windows and you can take amazing photos of them.</p>

<p>In the end, just before darkness falls, you will return to the car and your guide will drive you back to Brasov and drop you off at your accommodation.</p>
