About this activity

Combine Rio's two most iconic landmarks—the colossal Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain—in a single afternoon, culminating in a golden-hour cable car ascent with 360° city views. This curated tour weaves together cultural stops and natural vistas, with all major entrance fees included.

On this tour we will have a wonderful afternoon visiting the most famous attractions of the city, starting with the "wonder of Rio", Christ the Redeemer, symbol of the city. We go to the city center where we will stop in the beautiful Metropolitan Cathedral and at the colorful Selarón staircase.

Finally we have the opportunity to climb in a cable car to the summit of Sugar Loaf where we will enjoy a sunset with a breathtaking  360 °view . All tickets included.

Highlights

  • Stand beneath Christ the Redeemer, Rio's most recognizable monument and UNESCO World Heritage site
  • Ride the iconic red cable car to Sugarloaf's summit during sunset for unobstructed panoramic views
  • Explore the geometric Selarón Steps, a mosaic-tiled public art installation in the Lapa district
  • Visit the striking Metropolitan Cathedral with its modernist cone architecture in downtown Rio
  • Capture sunset photography from two elevated vantage points in a single tour

Insider tips

  • Arrive early at Sugarloaf to claim prime sunset-viewing spots on the terrace before crowds peak during the final hour before dusk
  • The Selarón Steps are best photographed in soft afternoon light; the artist's personal items are on display nearby—ask locals about the story
  • Bring a light layer; mountain-top winds and altitude can feel cooler than downtown Rio, even in warm months
  • Download offline maps or note your hotel location—cable car operations and traffic near Christ the Redeemer can cause unpredictable delays

Good to know

  • Duration is approximately 5 hours; tour typically departs mid-afternoon to maximize sunset timing at Sugarloaf
  • All entrance tickets (Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf cable car, and internal attractions) are pre-included in the price
  • Comfortable walking shoes essential for Selarón Steps and interior cathedral exploration
  • Sugarloaf cable car may have brief operational closures in high winds; no refund guarantee if weather impacts summit access
  • Hotel pickup/drop-off availability and exact meeting times should be confirmed at booking
