About this activity

Explore Venice's most iconic waterway aboard a private motorboat, then venture beyond the crowded tourist circuit with a guided walk through authentic neighborhoods like Dorsoduro or San Polo. This 3-hour experience combines Grand Canal heritage with local storytelling, ending with a traditional Venetian spritz.

In a private motorboat, we will go along the Canal Grande, considered "the most beautiful avenue in the world". Accompanied by a Portuguese-speaking tour assistant who will tell you about their monuments, churches and palaces, but also the people who lived, nobles, artists, courtesans, haunted houses, anecdotes, legends, curiosities. Immediately afterwards, I will meet a tour assistant who will accompany them on foot to a different neighborhood outside the San Marco-Rialto circuit. The neighborhood may be Dorsoduro / San Polo. With explanations about our daily life and stories in Venice. Let's have a nice walk, discovering some surprises along the way, palaces, gondolas, spiral staircases, legends and other sights (outside) as important as the San Marco neighborhood.

Highlights

  • Private motorboat cruise down the Canal Grande with commentary on palaces, churches, and historic figures
  • Portuguese-speaking guide sharing anecdotes about nobles, artists, and Venice's cultural past
  • Walking tour of lesser-known neighborhoods away from San Marco and Rialto crowds
  • Visits to Punta della Dogana, Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute, and the Guggenheim Museum

  • Refreshment with authentic Venetian spritz at the tour's end

Insider tips

  • The walking portion takes you through Dorsoduro and San Polo, where you'll find genuine Venetian life away from the San Marco masses
  • Ask your guide about the legends and stories tied to specific palaces and bridges—they add layers to what you're seeing
  • Wear comfortable, flat shoes; Venice's calli (narrow streets) are uneven and best navigated on foot
  • Go early morning or late afternoon for softer light on the water and fewer boat queues

Good to know

  • Small group size keeps the motorboat intimate; private boat means you avoid crowded vaporetto lines
  • Tour includes the final spritz but not meals; plan lunch separately if needed
  • Guide is Portuguese-speaking; confirm language preference at booking
  • Narrow Venetian streets are accessible but challenging for wheelchairs or heavy luggage; notify operator in advance if mobility is a concern
  • Motorboat departure point and meeting location for walking tour will be provided at booking confirmation
