Bratislava Self-Guided Detective Murder Mystery Game

The Bratislava game opens at the Old Town Hall on Hlavné námestie and turns immediately into the lanes of the old town. It passes the Primaciálny palác, goes under Michael's Tower and comes back down towards the river side of the centre. This is a self-guided murder mystery game, played from a phone, at whatever pace Bratislava allows.

It suits families with children, groups of friends, couples and colleagues, and a single player can take the case on alone. A team is a maximum of four people around one phone, and larger groups take additional tickets and split up. The historic core of Bratislava is small enough to cross on foot without effort, so teams spend more time reading and arguing than walking. There is no guide with the group and no fixed start time.

The case is the murder of Balthasar. Coded messages need unpicking, photo tasks need setting up, and digital characters give statements that contradict each other. St Martin's Cathedral is on the trail, as is the Čumil statue at its street corner, and every solved puzzle narrows the field of suspects.

With several teams out at once the game turns into a contest, which makes it a usable teambuilding format for a work group. Break off for lunch, return to the trail afterwards, and finish the case in the streets of Bratislava.
