Most PopularPalermo: Sunday Markets Walk with sweet break
Spend your Sunday morning walking through Palermo's markets, sharing our everyday city life. Enjoy...
1 / 7Explore Palermo's transformation and anti-mafia resistance on a 3-hour guided bike tour connecting the historic centre to revitalized coastal areas. Discover the legacy of prosecutors Falcone and Borsellino, learn about grassroots movements like Addiopizzo, and support ethical businesses reclaiming territory from organized crime.
Riding through the pedestrian areas of the old town center of Palermo and along the cycle lanes that connect it with the outskirts, you will discover how Palermo is changing 'inside and outside', healing from the wounds inflicted by the violence of the Mafia which reached its peak with the massacres of 1992.
A Palermo that gradually reclaims the sea it faces: savor the sea breeze as you pedal along the 'Terrazza al Mare,' tracing the perimeter of the ancient port and exploring the recently revitalized 'Molo Trapezoidale', adorned with its extraordinary "Music Fountain".
This tour is a tribute to the memory of heroes like the prosecutors Falcone and Borsellino, whose murders pushed the Sicilian people to react against the Mafia and inspired collective action of a whole generation of antimafia campaigners. Young people today are still committed to improving society and making change, volunteering in grass-roots movements like Libera and Addiopizzo.
The terrain is mainly flat, mostly on cycle paths and bike lanes. Neverthless it is a urban bike tour, so please expect to ride on roads opened to vehicular traffic as well. We recommend that all the participants, especially children, are confortable in riding the bike in town.
This tour was wonderful. We saw and learned many things that we wouldn’t have otherwise
Excellent history/insight into the genesis of pushback by the people of the influence of the mafia. Very enjoyable tour
A passionate storyteller. Thanks for this interesting and versatile experience (movement, education, ice-cream, you get it all!)
Spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October) offer mild temperatures ideal for cycling without summer heat exhaustion. Early morning or late afternoon tours minimize crowds in the old town and provide softer light for coastal rides.
