About this activity

Combine two of Turkey's most spectacular natural wonders in a single immersive day trip from Alanya: Salda Lake, famed for its crystalline turquoise waters and white sandy shores, and Pamukkale, a UNESCO-listed terraced wonderland of mineral-rich hot springs and brilliant white travertine formations. This full-day guided journey showcases contrasting landscapes—from alpine lake to thermal terraces—with meals and comfortable air-conditioned transport included.

Salda and Pamukkale day tour from Alanya is a great opportunity to discover two natural beauties of Turkey in one day. Salda Lake is known as Turkish Maldives for its white sandy beaches and extremely clear water. Pamukkale, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is famous for its white calcium travertines, hot springs and thermal pools.

Your tour begins at around 4:00AM as you are picked up from your accommodation in an air-conditioned bus. Your first stop will be at a local restaurant in Korkuteli Town. Following breakfast you will continue driving to the cleanest lake of Turkey, Salda Lake.

During a 1-hour stop at this lake (also known as the "Turkish Maldives"), you can enjoy walking along the white sandy beaches and can also swim in the clear turquoise waters. Located among the mountains, Salda Lake has protected its natural beauty and enchants visitors with a great combination of white, green, and blue colors. It is also the deepest lake in Turkey (184 meters), and its high magnesium white rocks on the lake shore are similar to those found on Mars. Following your break in the "Turkish Maldives", you will continue driving to Pamukkale. Before arriving, there will be a stop at a local restaurant where you will have the opportunity to enjoy lunch.

Following that, you will see one of the most unique and wonderful places in the world: Pamukkale (which means the "Cotton Castle" in Turkish). You can stroll along the white calcium travertines and their hot springs, swim in the ancient Cleopatra’s Pool, and discover the ruins of the ancient city of Hierapolis. You will also see the largest necropolis in Turkey, as well as one of the largest amphitheaters. You will have a total of about 4 hours to explore Pamukkale and Hierapolis, which is a UNESCO Heritage Site.

Following Pamukkale there will be a short visit to Karahayit, with optional swimming at a thermal pool. On the way back to Side you will stop at Korkuteli Town for a delicious dinner, following which your approximate time of arrival to Alanya is between 10:00PM-11:00PM.

Insider tips

  • Bring swimwear and a towel for Salda Lake; the water is refreshingly cool even in summer due to high altitude (1,185m)
  • Wear water shoes or sandals at Pamukkale—the travertine can be slippery and rough underfoot
  • Arrive at Salda Lake early in your visit for the clearest water and fewest crowds before midday
  • The magnesium-rich white rocks at Salda are delicate; stay on designated paths to protect this fragile ecosystem

Good to know

  • 15-hour tour includes very early pickup (around 4:00 AM) and substantial driving time; plan for a full day commitment
  • Breakfast and lunch provided at local restaurants; notify operator of dietary restrictions in advance
  • Air-conditioned minibus or bus transport from Alanya accommodation; confirm pickup location when booking
  • Bring sun protection (SPF 50+), hat, and sunglasses—white travertine and water reflection intensify UV exposure
  • Limited mobility may find Pamukkale's uneven terrain challenging; discuss accessibility needs with operator beforehand
