A Zinfandel Wine Tour from Split, Croatia

<p style="font-size:14px;line-height:1.6;color:#57646f;margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em">Our first stop is at winery Vučica, high on the hills above Kaštela. The vineyard has a long tradition of wine growing and wine making and the winery puts much effort in producing wines in a traditional way. Wines are produced exclusively on their natural yeasts which makes it possible for the wine to preserve its individuality and uniqueness – its been like that for decades and they produce 5000l of high quality white, red and rose wine per annum. We are also invited to try a wide range of their Croatian homemade snacks and treats.</p><p style="font-size:14px;line-height:1.6;color:#57646f;margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em">We make a short stop at the Kaštel Lukšić museum. The museum is situated in the Vitturi castle and provides a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Kaštela’s people and princes through the ages.</p><p style="font-size:14px;line-height:1.6;color:#57646f;margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em">We then take a drive down the beautiful promenade of Kastela, with short photo stops in Kastel Stafilic and Kastel Novi. We stop in scenic Kastel Stari for a short walk.</p><p style="font-size:14px;line-height:1.6;color:#57646f;margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em">Having worked up an appetite and rekindled our thirst we head to Kaštel Kambelovac and visit Perišin winery – a family winery. Try out their whites, rose and the iconic red Zinfandel all accompanied by some fantastic locally prepared food. Let the charming Ivan regale you with his family tales of the past and present and how he makes his food and wine today.</p><p style="font-size:14px;line-height:1.6;color:#57646f;margin-top:0.5em;margin-bottom:0.5em">Suitably fortified, we stop off at Kaštilac Gomilica (the setting of the free city of Braavos in Game of Thrones) where we enjoy the beautiful evening views. We take a short tour of the castle at Kastel Gomilica.</p>
