Mount Meru is Tanzania's second-highest mountain, rising to 4,566 meters (14,980 feet) above sea level. Located within the breathtaking Arusha National Park, this spectacular volcano offers one of Africa's most rewarding trekking experiences. Often overshadowed by Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru is a hidden gem that combines stunning scenery, abundant wildlife, dramatic volcanic landscapes, and a challenging summit climb.

The trek passes through lush montane forests, giant heather zones, alpine moorlands, and rocky ridges before reaching Socialist Peak, where hikers are rewarded with unforgettable sunrise views over Mount Kilimanjaro, the Great Rift Valley, and the endless plains of northern Tanzania.

Unlike many mountain climbs, trekkers often encounter giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, warthogs, antelopes, monkeys, and numerous bird species during the lower sections of the trek. An armed ranger accompanies every group, making the wildlife experience both exciting and safe.

This 5-day itinerary allows for better acclimatization, making it an excellent choice for adventure seekers and also as preparation before climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
