About this activity

A deep-dive into Greece's most significant classical ruins across two days, departing from Athens to explore the Peloponnese's archaeological crown jewels—from the engineering marvel of Corinth's canal to the legendary Bronze Age citadel of Mycenae, the oracle sanctuary of Delphi, and the athletic birthplace of Ancient Olympia. This itinerary combines legendary sites with manageable pacing, ideal for serious history travellers.

Our trip starts from Athens.
2 amazing days to the most majestic archaelogical places of Peloponnese.

Our first station is the canal of Corinth and after that, we are going to explore the places of Ancient Corinth and the historical Mycenae. We'll spend the night in Delphi (accomodation is not included. The accomodation for all, plus the driver's, must be done by the travellers), where in the evening we'll have free time for activities etc.

The next morning, we will head to Ancient Sparta and then, to Mystras. There, you will be able to enjoy the views of the castle. Our final destination before our return is the Ancient "Sacred Forrest" which was the name of Ancient Olympia and it's built on the North riverbank of Alfeios.

Highlights

  • Walk across the Corinth Canal, one of the world's most ambitious engineering feats
  • Explore the ruins of Ancient Corinth, including the iconic Temple of Apollo
  • Discover Mycenae's cyclopean walls and treasury of Atreus from the Bronze Age
  • Overnight in Delphi with evening free time to explore the town independently
  • Visit Ancient Sparta and the Byzantine castle ruins of Mystras with panoramic views
  • End at Ancient Olympia, birthplace of the Olympic Games, set in a sacred woodland sanctuary

Insider tips

  • Book your Delphi accommodation early and independently—the town fills quickly, especially in shoulder seasons
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sun protection; excavation sites offer minimal shade
  • Ask the guide about lesser-explored corners of each site to avoid peak crowds, particularly at Olympia

Good to know

  • Accommodation and meals are your responsibility; arrange lodging in Delphi before the tour
  • The itinerary involves substantial walking across uneven archaeological terrain—moderate fitness recommended
  • Bring water, hat, sunscreen, and a camera with good battery; sites are spread across 200+ km
  • Tour departs Athens; confirm exact pickup location and time with supplier upon booking
