Things to Do in Trogir

Trogir's Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognised as one of the best-preserved Romanesque-Gothic complexes in the Mediterranean.

The city was founded by Greek colonists from the island of Issa (modern-day Vis) in the 3rd century BC, making it over 2,300 years old.

Trogir sits on a small island connected to the mainland by two bridges, creating a naturally fortified medieval layout that survives almost unchanged today.

The Cathedral of St. Lawrence features one of the finest Romanesque portals in Europe, carved by local master Radovan in the 13th century.

Dalmatian wine and fresh seafood, especially black risotto (risotto nero) made with cuttlefish ink, are local specialities found throughout the waterfront restaurants.

The city was a major shipbuilding centre during the Venetian and Austro-Hungarian periods, and small shipyards still operate nearby.
