Things to Do in Nessebar

Nessebar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with over 3,000 years of history, founded as a Thracian settlement and later colonised by Greeks from Mendes.

The Old Town is built on a narrow rocky peninsula connected to the mainland by a single causeway, making it feel like a separate island despite being part of the Black Sea coast.

Nessebar has more than 40 medieval churches within its small Old Town, more per capita than almost any other European city, earning it the nickname 'Pearl of the Black Sea'.

The town's economy once relied on salt production from the nearby Salt Pans of Pomorie, which still operate today just 10km away.

Many house facades in the Old Town feature the distinctive Bulgarian Revival architectural style with overhanging wooden balconies and whitewashed walls, built between the 18th and 19th centuries.
