Mount Nebo is believed to be where Moses stood and viewed the Promised Land before his death, making it one of Christianity's most sacred pilgrimage sites.

The modern Memorial Church of Moses, built in the 1950s, contains a stunning Byzantine mosaic floor discovered during excavation featuring animals, geometric patterns, and an inscription in Greek.

On exceptionally clear days from Mount Nebo's 800-meter summit, you can see across the Jordan Valley to Jericho and even the Dead Sea approximately 40 kilometers away.

Mount Nebo was occupied during the Nabataean, Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic periods, with archaeological layers revealing continuous settlement spanning millennia.
