Did you know? Table Mountain

Table Mountain is one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, selected in 2011 from 440 nominated sites worldwide.

The mountain's distinctive flat top was formed by erosion of horizontal Table Mountain Sandstone layers over 300 million years, creating the iconic 3km-wide plateau.

On clear days, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway rotates 360 degrees during its 8-minute ascent, allowing views of Cape Town, the Atlantic, and False Bay simultaneously.

The mountain's slopes host over 2,200 plant species—more than exist in the entire British Isles—making it a biodiversity hotspot.

Tablecloth clouds, a phenomenon where clouds spill dramatically over the mountain's edge like fabric, occur most frequently in summer (November–February) when south-easterly winds push moisture over the plateau.
