Peter and Paul are two of the most influential followers of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. They both would suffer their death in what was then the Capital of the World, Rome. On our 3 hour tour, we will visit some of the places where they planted the seeds of evangelization.
The tour begins at the Basilica of Santa Maria in Via Lata where St Paul was held for 2 years awaiting his trial as a Roman citizen in Rome. The first Christian place of worship here is from at least the 5th century with more construction has taken place in the 7th and 9th centuries. The Basilica also contains a miraculous 13th-century icon of the "Virgin Advocate".
Then hold your breath as you continue on to the ancient roman Mamertine prison which incarcerated the most notable enemies of the Roman state, Sts Peter and Paul. Experience the moments before the certain death of two men who went from denying and persecuting Christ to die for Him.
You will then journey on to visit the church of Saint Peter in Chains containing chains that once bound St Peter, brought to Rome by the Christian Empress Eudoxia. Beyond seeing the Chains which once bound Peter in prison in Jerusalem before his miraculous liberation the church also bears the masterful statue of Moses by Michelangelo.
Then boarding the metro you will take a short 5 minute ride to the impressive Papal Major Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls - one of the most beautiful and least visited Basilicas in Rome. This magnificent Basilica is built over the burial site and body of Saint Paul following his execution in the reign of the Roman emperor Nero.
This is a must-do tour for all pilgrims and those interested in the apostles and early Christian Rome.

Very interesting cultural and historical tour. The beautiful grand temples are like museums, with murals and sculpures of famous artists. Knowledgeable guide with plenty of extra info on legends and lore.
Thanks, loved it and fully recommended, just next time make sure the sun shines ...
Quite interesting tour of 4 major religious points of worship. Lots of info from our guide. A way to see those magnificent churches especially St. Paul's outside the Walls. Ask about the "horns" on Moses's statue at St Peter's. ???
