Our day tour will begin with our fast and efficient pick up service. We will come to pick you up you from either, one of the hotels in the center of Reykjavik or from one of the many pick up spots dotted across the city. When pick up is completed then we will leave the city and begin our journey along the southern coast of Iceland.

The South coast of Iceland faces the north atlantic ocean and as a result this means that this area often faces the most extreme weather conditions in the country. This has been a major factor contributing to the sculpting of the dramatic landscapes of this area where you will find glaciers, volcanoes, black sand beaches and acres of green lava fields. This contrast leads to extremely variated day tour that gives you bits and pieces of the best that Icelandic nature offers.

Skógarfoss Waterfall

The first stop we make is at the Skógafoss waterfall. The waterfall drops down from old sea cliffs some breathtaking 60 meters having the views of Eyjafjallajökull volcano in the background on a good day. The power from the water along with the height of the cliffs around leave you without words. The waterfall can be visited at two levels. At ground-level you can approach the water as close as you feel like and really feel the power of nature. Keep in mind the elements will take you with open arms and make you wet if you are not equipped with waterproof layers. There is also another path leading to a platform above the waterfall which gives you a view of the waterfall from a different angle. On a good day the view of the surrounding landscape is not to miss, if you are ready to take on the climb of a few hundred steep steps.

Vík Village

From Skógarfoss we will then travel to the southernmost village in Iceland called Vík. This is a beautiful little fishing village, with only 300 inhabitants. it’s a  small community but there are plenty of places for you to refuel and recharge. You can even pick up some handmade gifts that are handcrafted here and made from local ingredients. The black beach at Vík is something not to miss. Just a few minuits stroll down from the Service centre a nice path takes you down to the black sand to give you a magnificent view of Reynisdrangar Sea-Stacks, believed to be petrified trolls by the locals.

Sólheimajökull Glacier

Sólheimajökull is a fast melting glacial tongue that comes crawling some 8 km down from the icecap of Mýrdalsjökull. Katla is the sister volcano to the (in)famous Eyjafjallajökull. The whole glacial landscape is fascinating and a must to explore. The fast melting glacier has left behind moraines and steep mountains, big boulders of rock and a small glacier lagoon. The walk from the parking to the ice takes now about 20 minuets one way. The beautiful colour of the ice is ever-changing and the grand scale of the glacier front gives you a good perspective of the grandeur of nature. In order to enjoy the walk to the fullest please bring wind and waterproof equipment and good sturdy shoes suitable for walking on uneven terrain.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall

Seljalandsfoss is a fascinating waterfall and perhaps one of the most visited waterfalls in Iceland. It’s popularity is well deserved though as the Seljalandsfoss waterfall houses a very special surprise, in the summertime you are able to walk behind the cascade and get a tremendous view of the waterfall from behind. The water that feeds this 60m tall waterfall originates from the (in)famous Eyjafjallajökull glacier capped volcano.

Following this stop we will head back to the city so that you can continue your Icelandic adventure.
