The Amazonas Park is a private zoo in the northeast of the island of Crete. The focus of the zoo is on animals from South America, especially parrots and monkeys. There are also some domestic animals like donkeys and goats.

Elounda is ideal for people who want a seaside holiday in a place that is neither too busy nor too isolated. In Elounda you will find small, pretty beaches, visit the island of Spinalonga, walk along the peninsula of Kolokytha (the word means “gourd” or “pumpkin”), and explore the many little villages far from the sea, offering a window into times gone by.
Plaka is more a small suburb of Elounda, about 4km away, than an independent village. The water is crystal clear and the beach is made up of smooth white pebbles. There are more nice sand and shingle beaches in the vicinity. Mountains encompass Plaka and the beach is protected from the wind so it is possible to swim in late autumn. A well-known sightseeing excursion is to the Island of Spinalonga which is steeped in history. There was a leper colony there until the 1920s, which was provided for by Elounda.
By boat we visit the island of Spinalonga. This island was used as a Leper Colony until 1957. In the small village under the Venetian fortress the stigmatised lepers shared fates when exiled to the island. We make a stop to take a swim in the clean waters of Kolokitha beach in the area of the remains of the ancient sunken city of Olous.
Agios Nikolaos. A beautiful city with many hidden gems. We will enjoy our lunch overlooking the most photograph lake in Greece. Enjoy free time for coffee or Lunch with plenty of Wine and Raki. Duration: 2 hours.
