On this one-day Inca trail hike, you will be visiting some archaeological sites like Wiñay Wana and Sungate (Intipunku) before stepping to Machu Picchu citadel.
Inca Trail is one of the most raved trails in South America, if not in the world.
Quite recently, National Geography Travel Magazine named it as one of the top 25 treks in the world. This 500 years old trail was popular since the Incan civilization.
Incas used this very route to travel from Cusco to Machu Picchu.
The Classic Inca Trail has gained a lot of popularity. In order to maintain the trail, the authorities have restricted access to 500 people a day. This number included guides, porters, and chefs which means only 200 travelers can access this trail in a day. Hence, the permit tends to sell out soon.
Normally trekkers book six months in advance.
One Day Inca Trail does have restrictions but it is not so stringent. This is because you will be hiking only a part (although an important part) of the trek. To most, this is a lifetime trip.
This exquisite experience offers a knowledgeable local tour guide. The guides have good proficiency in the English language.
Join us in retracing the path of Incas on your trip to their lost city, Machu Picchu.
You will be picked up from the hotel approximately at 04:00 AM.
Then we will embark on a road trip to Ollantaytambo. Here we will board the train to the trailhead at Km.104. It takes an hour and ten minutes ride. Kilometer 104 is named because of its distance from Cusco en-route to Aguas Calientes. It is at (2,100m/6,927ft).
After clearing the security checkpoint, we will begin the one-day Inca Trail tour to Machu Picchu. We will be gradually hiking up the hill for three hours to Wiñay Wayna.
It is an Incan archaeological site at (2,650m/8,747ft). From here you will have an enchanting view of some archaeological sites that are part of the Classic Inca Trail.
After you have had your fill of these historic sites, we will hike to the camping ground for lunch. The lunch area here has a roof and has toilets too.
Later we will hike to Intipunku or Sungate. This is the highlight of the Inca Trail. You will have an exclusive view of Machu Picchu at a distance from here.
We will then hike down the hill for an hour to the citadel.
At Machu Picchu, we will give you a guided tour of two hours. On this tour, you will be visiting sites like the main plaza, ceremonial center, and other important sites.
You will then have some free time to walk around and take photos.
We will then take a bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes town.
If desired, we can direct you to one of the restaurants in Aguas Calientes for dinner.
Later in the evening, you will be boarding a train back to Ollantaytambo.
At Ollantaytambo, our representative will meet you.
We will drop you off at your hotel in Cusco by 10:30 PM approximately.
