The Museum of Modern Art - or MAM, as locals like to call it - is an architectural landmark. It is a project conceived by Roberto Burle Marx and made by architect Affonso Eduardo Reidy.
With more than 15 thousand works of art, its collection is composed of sculptures and paintings made by internationally renowned artists and many important Latin American artists.
Take this opportunity to walk around Flamengo Park (Aterro do Flamengo), which is just outside the MAM. It is a beautiful park area located in urban settings.

Before starting your gallery tour, take the time to admire the MAM structure, designed in the 1950s. Here you find pieces from the extensive Gilberto Chateaubriand collection. Famous Brazilian artists such as Maria Martins, Di Cavalcanti and Cândido Portinari are on display next to European modernists.
After visiting the museum, explore the Flamengo Park (Aterro do Flamengo), where the museum is situated. Spread over 300 acres (121 hectares) along the edge of Guanabara Bay, this is Rio’s largest park.
