Commence a scenic island drive through olive groves, vineyards, and thick cypress glades. Passing through Mount Aenos we will arrive in the area of Omala Valley and we will find the largest religious monument in Kefalonia having been established in 1560 by St. Gerasimos, the patron saint of the island. The Omala Valley is the island’s primary wine region, and most vineyards and wineries are clustered around St. Gerasimos Monastery.
You cannot pass from Kefalonia without tasting a glass of the famous local wine at the Robola Winery, located in this area. The Robola, produced exclusively in Kefalonia, is a white wine with special lemon color, acidity in the flavor and aroma of citrus fruits, usually is consumed two years after its production.
Continuing we will visit two of the most idyllic places, the subterranean lake of Melissani, where small boats carrying visitors to admire the spectacular sight of the stalactites and the changing kaleidoscopic colors of the water and Drogarati Cave, discovered 300 years ago when an earthquake exposed the entrance, this spectacular two million-year-old cavern features stunning rock formations (enhanced by hidden lighting) and a magnificent hall called "Sala of Apotheosis".
Leaving the caves we will meet another beautiful location surrounded by sea and fir tree cloaked mountains, Agia Efimia - a very pretty fishing village with a number of traditional Greek waterside cafes, tavernas, and a good selection of shops.
On the way back snap some postcard-worthy photos from the top of the hill of Myrtos Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the world for its exotic sceneries and its wild beauty.

Thanks Spiros for great driving, thanks Christina for sharing so much info with us in such a lovely way! Our family had a great time, we really loved the boat trip . Met some lovely people on the tour , would definitely recommend this tour.
Booked this on our own, just the night before. Worth every single penny. Its actually a whole day trip that you get to see so much staff. All family loved the caves. The guide is an English lady who lives in Greece half of the year. She was sweet and postivie , passed her knowledge to us and she was lovely. Would do it again as we really admired some tremendous places.Recommend
A rich, full, essential but perhaps slightly more quick than should, overview of the island. Loved the Monastery and the Winery. Really enjoyed the trip to the lakes and caves (the entrance fees are included). Definitely a great tour.
