Discover the UNESCO-listed Tijuca National Rainforest and famous Christ the Redeemer Statue!
Christ Redeemer Monument, at the top of Corcovado Mountain (710m / 2330ft), is certainly Brazil’s most famous landmark, located in the first sector of the Tijuca Forest National Park.
Our hiking starts at Parque Lage at the base of Corcovado Mountain, a park covered with Atlantic Rainforest, with a beautiful and imponent old mansion and many century-old palm trees.
The ascent lasts about two hours and goes through some beautiful waterfalls with plenty of fresh water.
From up there the view is very rewarding and it’s considered to be one of Rio’s most privileged belvederes.
Recommendations: wear light clothes and hiking shoes, bring a small backpack with water, snacks, mosquito repellent, sunscreen, cap or hat, sunglasses and cash for tickets and extras.
